In this exercise, we’ll use a scene from the movie A Bronx Tale to practice quickly articulating baselines and spotting anomalies in people's behavior "in the approach." In this pivotal moment, young Calogero witnesses Sonny, the local mafia boss, being fatally shot in his bar by the son of a man Sonny killed years earlier.
Because this is a movie, where actors intentionally control their actions and behaviors to tell a story, this exercise isn't about identifying the attacker beforehand. Instead, it focuses on how rapidly and accurately you can articulate what specifically makes the anomaly stand out from the crowd. Even as a scripted scene, this clip provides an excellent opportunity to build file folders for identifying anomalies in the approach, enhancing your recognition-primed decision-making.
